APC senator Sani says if statistics reeled out by Trump is true, then northeast more peaceful than US
Senator Sani was reacting to a statement credited to United States President Donald Trump that at least 4000 people were killed in just one year in Chicago, a popular state in that
He noted that Nigeria’s northeast never lost that much number of lives even while under very heavy Boko Haram attacks.
The chairman of the Senate ad-hoc committee on the humanitarian crisis in the northeast, who recently caused a scare when he accused a high-ranking member of the President Muhammadu Buhari cabinet of monumental corruption in connection with IDP camps, concluded that the northeast is more peaceful than Chicago if Trump’s submission was true.
Trump recently tweeted that ‘Chicago needs help’ after seven people were shot and killed in just one day.
According to a report on a US website NPR, 4,000 people were indeed shot in Chicago in 2016 but about just about 762 murders were recorded.
In yet another tweet, Senator Sani in the same breath attacked the country’s reaction to the Amnesty International (AI) report on the murders of innocent Nigerians.
The Nigerian Army has since denied the AI report and issued a strong warning to the international human rights agency over what it described as fabricated information.
