Atiku, had at The NG Candidates, on Wednesday said he would grant amnesty to looters, if they returned the loot or invested in the Nigerian economy.
Reacting to Atiku’s statement, the organisation said that such a plan would only increase the incidences of corruption in the state. The group also threatened to challenge Atiku’s plan in court, if he wins the election and adopts the measure.
SERAP said, on its Twitter page, “Dear @Atiku granting amnesty for (to) corrupt persons will exacerbate impunity for corruption in Nigeria.”
It added, “SERAPNigeria will challenge any such amnesty if it’s ever adopted as a policy, should you be elected into the office.
“The corrupt must be held to account, and not escape justice.”
